Well, if you have not read about my work with the Kott family there are several posts in archive on my blog/blogs about them. Without going into great depth about what a blessing the Kott family is to me and what they have been through, I just wanted to say how at times I am just in awe of life.

As I was watching the 4th of July parade pass down Fair Oaks Blvd yesterday in the thick of the crowd, with 100+ degree heat beating off of the asphalt and sweat dripping down my back I looked up to see this beautiful site.

The Bloodsource bus with Trevor’s photograph driving by with his warm, innocent, captivating eyes, and his ever so adorable happy smile.

It seems like yesterday that I took that photograph. Doesn’t that just give you the chills? That beautiful little face on the side of the Bloodsource bus. I believe there is a reason for everything and if this bus doesn’t make you want to go out and get swabbed or give blood what will?

Thank you, my little angel Trevor for the subtle reminders you bring to me at the most opportune times of how amazing my life is. I’m so happy to know you!

To post our FAVORITE photo of the week.

Today’s post will be done by me {Kristene} again; as miss Brenda is out of town doing a workshop on newborns.

What a week it has been! Brenda just got back from a family filled week in Santa Cruz Wednesday night, did a few sessions on Thursday and this morning (before the sun came up) was on a plane to Southern California for a workshop. Whew!

One of the sessions yesterday was a newborn/ 2 year old session with Camille and her big sister Charlotte. Charlotte has been a familiar face here at Bisharat Photography for the past two years.  We have enjoyed watching her grow through each mile stone in her life.  On June 11th Charlotte’s not-so-little sister Camille (10 LBS!!!) came in to this world.

Welcome to the world Camille!

We look forward to watching both of their journeys and documenting their milestones.

We had a great week with baby and outdoor family sessions…. But then why not show a photo of some “family fun” in Santa Cruz?

My day started as usual, up at 4:30AM to the gym and home getting the family breakfast/lunch before making my way to my office. I’m so fortunate that all I need to do is walk out the back a 100 yards or so and am there. Feeling solemn and a little sad about Pietra’s 1:00 memorial service, something kept reminding me that Pietra such a happy and positive person would have wanted me to celebrate her. Driving to meet my good friends Angela and Bob and their girls Lauren and Kendall I was looking forward to seeing all of Pietra’s Village of Hope Friends, Families and Community. Ruby Roxanne (Pietra’s BFF)  did an amazing job reflecting on what a wonderful mother, friend, daughter and wife Pietra was. The Green Valley Community Church was decorated so beautifully and the volunteers there were more than generous, having Kleenex on the chairs, helping people be seated, ushering in and out and providing lots of wonderful food for all.

There were many highlights of the day, here are a few that really moved me….

Lauren, (Trevor’s sister) really wanted to get up and speak. She walked up on stage and talked in front of everyone about how Pietra inspired her to like art. Pietra taught art after school and Lauren loved having art with her. She then said in a very quite voice Pietra can you give my brother Trevor a kiss up there in heaven? Wow…..out of the mouth of babes!

After the service friends and families were invited to write a message on a balloon and then all were invited out to the front in the soft drizzle of rain to release their balloons. It was an amazing sight to watch everyone send their own message up to the heavens for Peetie.

Ruby spoke about the trip that their families took to Tahoe around New Years. She mentioned that Pietra enjoyed the trip SO VERY much. She said it was as if Pietra was seeing the snow for the very first time and as they hiked they had to stop at every little tree branch, every little icicle and make snow angels.

It was  amazing to see it snowing like crazy right there in Placerville today when we were leaving her celebration, having said our goodbyes.

I can’t help but think that was a little bit of Peetie’s doing!

So many moments that took my breath away, I’m honored to have been a little part of such a wonderful persons life!

Today I was so excited when I saw a tweet from {Annie and Isabel Designer Hospital Gowns} come across my computer saying that PREGNANCY.ORG, LLC had published a blog post Anna had written about the birth of her last son Daniel. Bisharat Photography documented Daniel’s birth and our slide show is part of Anna’s story and is on the blog post. Please check it out if you get a chance.

The post along with some upcoming births I have really reminded me how much I love documenting births. In fact it really could possibly be my favorite thing to photograph…..

Here is Bethany’s story and why she chose to call me to document the birth of her son Matthew…

My daughter is four years old and at the time of her birth a lot was going on.  We are not from Sacramento, my husband’s family lives 90 minutes away, while mine is 3,000 miles away.  My husband was due to leave at 7am the morning after her birth for the next 3 months and I would be alone in Sac with a small smattering of friends over the summer.  It was one of the happiest yet saddest points in our marriage – all in 24 hours!  I had a planned c-section and my husband manned the video camera as well as a non-digital old style camera at the time.  We have a decent amount of in hospital pictures however since he was leaving, we used the hospital’s Polaroid to take a dozen pictures that he could take with him the next morning.  What I didn’t realize is that aside from one photo in the delivery room, our only family photos were on Polaroid, not the best quality; and then he was gone for the summer!  I felt cheated of capturing our first family moments with our newborn in many ways with his leaving and then having no remembrance via pictures was painful.  I happened to meet Brenda’s work via a mommy group friend and was enchanted by her photography (I have always been obsessed with pictures and random beautiful photography).  When I learned that she does birth photography, I immediately thought….

I WILL HAVE THAT WITH MY NEXT CHILD!

So this past January, a few weeks before my due date I contacted Brenda and thankfully she was available for our big day.  To me the births of our children are as important as our wedding day, so it made sense to have a birth album similar to our wedding album. Having Brenda present almost felt like there was family in the room; her unobtrusive style and the fact that she was a mom and had witnessed many births via her job gave me a sense of security and I actually felt safe with her there!  I am in love with our finished product, was happily tearful upon seeing the album for the first time!  It is SO gorgeous and life-like I could nearly hear his newborn cries coming off the pages!  The first moments of birth are irreplaceable and priceless to me, I am thrilled to be able to relive and study those moments in time via Brenda’s talents…my only regret is I did not know her in 2006 with my daughter!  Thank you Brenda!!!
